MAVA Officers Duties and Responsibilities

     It is recommended that each MAVA post have as a minimun individuals elected to the following positions:

     The basic duties and responsibilities of these officers are listed below:

     Commander: Responsible for leading the post membership in a positive direction, and promoting the progressive
 goals and incentives of the post membership, and the public. Ensuring meetings are conducted regularly and orderly,
 and being present whenever possible at all events sponsored by the post.

     Assistant / Deputy Commander: Responsibilities are the same as the post commander, and will act in the commander's
 stead whenever he/she is not present at any meetings, events, or activities sponsored by the post.

     Secretary / Historian: Responsible for recording the minutes of each official post meeting, and maintaining a written   
 report of events / programs that are of historical or note worthy significance to the post or any of its' membership.

     Treasurer: Responsible for maintaining the financial account of the post, and a written record of the account. Be able to
 provide a quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial report, as well as an accurate financial status to any post officer or 
 member upon request.

     The positions of Commander, Assistant / Deputy Commander, Secretary / Historian, and Treasurer will be held for 
 one year. The active post members, as well as any active member that vote by proxy, because they were unable to 
 attend the annual meeting will select the officers via a majority vote.

     Any elected officer can be removed, and replaced for proven allegations of impropriety, abuse of his /her elected 
 position, or a wonton display of irresponsibility in the position they were elected to.

     The procedure for removing, and replacing an officer, requires that all persons requesting the change have a petition 
 signed by a majority of active members at the post which clearly states the actions that the officer is being accused of. A 
 special hearing meeting of all active post members will be held to assess the accusations. If the accusations hold true, a 
 special election will be conducted at the nearest possible date thereafter, to replace the officer, and fill the position left 
 vacant by their removal from the position.
